Meet our Belgian artist Jan De Vliegher

A few weeks ago, friends of mine introduced me to the contemporary Belgian painter Jan De Vliegher, by showing me one of the publications about his work, titled ‘Treasury’. I really was impressed by all these gorgeous works of art.

I hadn’t seen paintings of Jan before, so I started googling his name and discovered more about this talented Belgian painter and his wonderful work.

Jan has a beautiful website where a lot of his paintings are to discover.

The landing page of his website is as impressive as Jan’s works of art!

I emailed Jan asking him if he would allow me to introduce him and his work to the readers of my blog. I was so pleased with his prompt and kind reply giving me his approval!!

Thank you so much Jan, I really appreciate this!

Jan De Vliegher is born in Bruges (°1964) and lives and works in Bruges. Since 2003 he is a teacher drawing and painting at the Stedelijke Academie of Bruges.

Jan graduated at the Sint-Lucas Higher Institute for Visual Arts of Ghent (1982-1986) and obtained his
masterdegree in painting (magna cum laude).

He already exhibited in various national as international art galleries (list of exhibitions click here).

Jan’s preference is given to the figurative painting, This allows him to express his love for colouring and poetry of painting, in a more or less free style.

Jan is not adhered to the narrative or the story but he is seeking for universal situations. Ordinary things and events in their own environment are captured on a photo and brought onto a painterly image.

Composition is of much more importance than content.

The artist loves to use a bright and strong color palette to give his paintings a dynamic and expressive character. He brings his paintings to life by playing with light and color. The emotional impact of a work is of a huge importance to the painter.

Jan De Vliegher creates visual beauty of which the essence is vitality and energy.

Jan is painting architecture, interiors, people, nature and still lifes.

I posted some of my favorites here.

    Enjoy!

John Saladino in the footsteps of Johannes Vermeer

First of all I really want to thank all of you for the best wishes for the birth of Tristan! It was so nice to read all the sweet comments and emails I received! Thank you so much!

One of the amazing things about blogging is the fact that we are able to make a lot of friends! A lot of readers are really following all of your posts and do help with giving advice or relevant information about items you might be interested in.
Billie, one of my readers, who became a good blogger friend, is a person like that!
Two days ago Billie sent me an amazing video that I really have to share with you because I know that a lot of you will love watching it!!

In this video, one of my favourite designers, John Saladino, shows and tells about an interior he designed and of which he was inspired by the Dutch (from Delft) baroque painter Johannes Vermeer (1632-1675). In particular it was the movie "Girl with a Pearl Earring" (2003) from Peter Webber , that influenced him a lot in designing the interior seen on the video.
The title of that movie is after the title of a painting of Vermeer :" Girl with the Pearl".

Mister Saladino tells about the way Johannes Vermeer is bringing in light into his paintings. So even for John Saladino light is a very important aspect in designing an interior. And he tells us he wanted to follow in the footsteps of Johannes Vermeer by his vision to bring in daylight in this wonderdul interior he created here!
It is a gorgeous interior and you will notice the Dutch influence by seeing for instance pewter dishes, the blue Delftware used here as a decorative item.
Click on the image of the painting "Girl with a Pearl" to watch the video! ENJOY!!
Especially, I want to thank my friend Billie for sending me this wonderful video!!
    Thank you Billie!
    xx

Scrivo (Belgium) versus Diane Detalle (New York)

Today , while reading the blog Chukker http://www.thechukkerblogspot.com/
I did an utmost unbelievable discovery!
On their post of today, they tell us about an American -English artist, the painter Diane Detalle.

I don't know if you have ever heard of the Belgian painter Scrivo ? I certainly have!!
He and his wife Gloria are friends of me. And I have some works of art of Scrivo in my home.

Now, just compare the works of art of both artists here below!!!
I was perplex by looking at the works of Diane, immediately I saw a strong ressemblance between the works of art of the 2 painters!

    The Belgian painter Scrivo

All works of SCRIVO have the same title, but are catalogued under a different number, and that number is the date of creation.

On the website of Scrivo www.scrivo.be, I found a few words of the painter that I take over here : "I transfer my emotions and preoccupations with a gestual spontaneity on the canvas. The lines that result from this movement reflect no pictural configuration but form a whole, as a kind of fingerprint that refelects a perfect selfportrait."

DIANE DELATTE was born in France but now lives and works in New York and London.
On her website www.dianedetalle.com ,I found the words that I take over here : ".My paintings directly mirror my own life. Why? Because in my live, as in my paintings, I'm driven by the two forces I prize above all else :passion and spontaneity."

If you want to know Diane and her works better than go to the exposition in New York, that opens his doors tonight.

    Or visit her website http://www.dianedetalle.com/.
If you are interested in the works of art of Scrivo than visit his website www.scrivo.be.

You could say that both painters have the same technic. Or are we wrong?

And who's works are these two below ...?? Scrivo or Diane?

NO! They are both from the hand of Jackson Pollock!

Scrivo as well as Diane are compared with Jackson Pollock.
I'm wandering if Scrivo and Diane have ever met?
